The Najad 373, being a modern cruising sailing yacht, meeting the highest performance and layout standards for long coastal and ocean sailing, is the result of many years experience. The Najad 373 has thus been designed with a long sailing waterline and the stern raised out of the water to achieve a small wet area. The broad stern makes room for the spacious aft cabin and the integral swimming platform in the transom for comfort/security as well as increases the stability and the downwind performance. The sharp pointed forebody is designed to prevent the yacht slowing down in rough and heavy sea.
Spacious cockpit with a large navigation table in unvarnished teak below a fixed windscreen. Seats and upper side of cockpit coaming covered in caulked, solid teak. Curved Helmsman's seat with Najad logo in teak intarsia behind the wheel. Removable teak grating. Steering pedestal with stainless steel protection bar for the compass which also supports the cockpit table. Two flush mounted winch handle pockets in the coamings port and starboard. The starboard one also contains the engine control panel. Behind the windscreen and in the cockpit recesses there is space for additional instrumentation. Integrated grab rails are built on to the teak navigation table in the cockpit. The sprayhood is splash proof and fitted in a groove to the top edge of the windscreen so the joint becomes watertight. The sprayhood offers a protected area at the forward end of the cockpit. A sprayhood extension can be fitted to cover the whole cockpit (extra equipment). Spacious cockpit locker under the starboard seat containing cockpit table, washboards and fire extinguisher. Below/behind the cockpit locker, space for hot water boiler, fueltank, holdingtank, etc. Manual bilge pump fitted so that it can be operated from the cockpit with all hatches closed. Two 2" selfdrains and draining from seats.
The firstclass interior is handcrafted in selected and unstained African Mahogany, hand polished and varnished to a satin finish. Cupboards and doors in solid Mahogany with profilemilled massive frames. The insulated mouldings are lined in Mahogany above the berth bottoms. Flooring of varnished teak plywood with holly inlay. Inspection hatches for the bilge and stowage. Headlining of white vinyl covered panels with Mahogany strips.

Yanmar 4JH3-(B)E, 4-cylinder direct injection, 4-stroke marine diesel with fresh watercooling. Power output at propeller shaft is 53.4 h.p. (39.3 kW at 3 800 r.p.m.) Mechanical reverse gear, type KM4A, reduction ratio 2.63:1. 1" (30 mm) propeller shaft in acid resistant steel with flexible connection. Stern gland with water lubricated rubber bearing. 3-blade fixed bronze propeller with shaft anode. Single lever engine control at the pedestal. Instrument panel fitted to starboard recess in cockpit including: - rev. counter - engine hour meter - displays for •charging •high engine temperature •low oil pressure - audible warning for oil pressure and engine temperature - switch for instrument lights and alarm test - key starter - electrical stop. Electrical starting motor, 1.2 kW. The engine is mounted on four rubber cushions for effective vibration damping. Wet exhaust with swan neck and effective rubber silencer. Soundproof engine room. The engine is easily accessible for service through a door in the passageway and the removable companionway stairs.
The hull is handlaid in a sandwich construction of triaxial Rowing with ISO polyester. The surface layer is of NGA gelcoat for maximum protection against water penetration. The colour is white with carmine red trim and water lines inlaid in the gelcoat. The hull is topcoated internally. Below the water line the hull is treated with epoxy primer and antifouling paint.
Deck and coachroof are built in sandwich construction in glass fibre reinforced polyester. The colour is white with Carmine red trim line. Hull and deck are laminated together. Strengthened glass fibre laminate beneath stressed areas. Substantial teak capping. The deck and swimming platform are laid with solid caulked teak. The coachroof, both forward and aft, has a nonslip surface and is prepared with a recess for the flush mounting of teak. A selfdraining locker forward for chain, fenders and warps. Aft, two drained lazarettes for anchor, ropes and gas bottles. Two 1" (32 mm) internal deck drains. Winch brackets on both sides of the cockpit coaming to support both Genoa and spinnaker winches.

Seldén mast in silver anodised aluminium profile 206/139 mm, height 49'2"(15.00m) above deck, stepped on the coachroof and supported by a galvanised steel pillar, that is placed on the longitudinal and transverse reinforced support beams. 1x19-ply stainless steel wire standing rigging. 8 mm forestay, 7 mm backstay and intermediate shrouds, 10 mm top shrouds and lower shrouds. Stainless steel rigging screws. 7/16" for intermediate shrouds, 3/4" for top shrouds and all others 5/8". Head sail furling system, Seldén Furlex 300S/8, with control line on port side, drawn through blocks on the stanchions and stopper on the cap rail to cockpit. Backstay adjuster, mechanical. Seldén rodkick and topping lift. The mast is fitted with decklight, steaming light and prepared for spinnaker equipment, one stainless steel, selftailing halyard winch Andersen 12ST. Stainless steel reefing winch. Stoppers to Genoa and main halyards. Winch handle pocket, Windex and flag halyards. Internal main halyard of 5 mm, 133-ply stainless steel wire with Terylene rope end. Internal jib halyard of 6 mm, 133-ply stainless steel wire with Terylene fall. Ample cleats. Stainless steel chain plates, bolted to transverse bulkheads, laminated on both sides to the hull. Seldén boom in silver anodised aluminium profile 171/94 mm with internal outhaul and twin reefing lines with stoppers. Six-to-one cut mainsheet with ball bearing car, on a sheet track with trimlines.both Genoa and spinnaker winches.
Mainsail Najad Original with sliding system Bainbridge Sailman or equivalent with pressure sliders and bolt rope on foot in triradial cut, DC Mylar. The mainsail is fitted with sail number, boat number, battens, two reefs, telltales, sailbag and a mainsail cover. The working jib, triradial cut, DC Mylar with telltales and sailbag.
2 x stainless steel selftailing Genoa sheet winches, Andersen 52 ST. 2 x 10" (25 cm) lockable winch handles. 4 x 12" (30 cm) mooring cleats, through bolted. 2 x 10" (25 cm) spring cleats midships, through bolted. Twin bow roller fitting with double integrated anchor rollers for one 20 kg Bruce anchor. Pulpit in acid resistant stainless steel fitted with a teak step.
