Much like L’ESPRIT D’EQUIPE 2, winner of the Whitbread in 1986, L’ESPRIT D’EQUIPE II has also completed a round the world voyage with the Honeywell Bull team. She is incredibly modern and has benefitted from an innovative design and a longer, flatter hull. Her lighter displacement and deeper keel make her a trailblazer in the Volvo 60 range.
Bought by its current owners in 2015, L’ESPRIT D’EQUIPE II has been improved each year: painting of the hull in 2017, more powerful, lighter and quieter engine in 2019, more efficient sails in 2018/20, comfortable bathing ladder on the aft transom (shower), Bimini top with 600 W solar panels, instrument console placed in front of the helm, kitchen redesigned and renewed in 2022, saloon cushions, etc. The boat is fast, she can win races (Juriscup, Trophée Bailli de Suffren, legends regatta, etc.), offers comfort when cruising, and is well equipped. She is well balanced, very seaworthy and built solid and rigid. Its flat hull bottom allows it good surfing (record 17.2 knots), but it also quickly exceeds 8 knots upwind at 45° from the true wind.
